Mr. Md. Shahidul Hoque

Md. Shahidul Hoque joined Karnaphuli Insurance PLC as the Additional Managing Director on November 02, 2025. He has extensive experience in the field of non-life insurance nearly over 30 years. Before joining Karnaphuli Insurance PLC, he worked as Deputy General Manager (Re-Insurance Fire). He obtained his B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Dhaka. He joined SBC as Assistant Manager in June 1996. He passed diploma (ABIA) from Bangladesh Insurance Academy and obtained 1st position in diploma examination in 2005 and received Tyser’s Award. After joining SBC, he participated in many training programs from Bangladesh Insurance Academy. The training programs are Insurance-related “Basic Course”, “Foundation Training Course” on Insurance, training on “Financial Management and Accounting of Insurance companies”, “VAT and Taxation training conducted by ICMA Bangladesh”, and “Basics on Information Technologies” conducted by Bangladesh Computer Council. He also participated in-house training of Sadharan Bima Corporation.

Over the years at Sadharan Bima Corporation, he worked in various departments especially in Underwriting, Reinsurance, and claims, gaining extensive experience and skills in the relevant field. He also discharged his duties as Assistant General Manager and Zonal In-charge of Narayanganj Zonal Office and as Deputy General Manager and Zonal In-charge of Chattogram Zonal Office, overseeing branches and departments like Underwriting, Claims, Real-Estate, Law, Accounts, Administration and Rent Collection Departments. He also worked as Assistant General Manager/In-charge of Local Office, Dhaka (the largest underwriting office of SBC), managing Underwriting (Marine, Motor, Fire, Engineering, Miscellaneous and motor claims) and was awarded 1st prize for the highest premium Income Office during that time. He also served as DGM (HRD) in Head Office, administering Human Resource, Welfare and Fixation Cell, Motor Pool, Security Cell, House building Loan Advance Cell and Training Center. 

He attended 10 days long foreign training about Re-insurance program on “Introduction to Lloyd’s and the London Market, Introduction to Marine Re-insurance, Construction Insurance and Professional Indemnity and Cyber Insurance” in London, UK. He also visited Lloyd’s Re-insurance Market, Lime Street, London, Uk.

Beside this, He also has visited Shakespeare House, Shakespeare city, Oxford University, Oxford city, British Museum, Madame Tussauds Museum, Greenwich Mean Time and many others places in London.
