Dear Shareholder friends,

Assalamu Alaikum.

I am extremely happy and delighted in welcoming you all to the 36th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Karnaphuli Insurance Company Limited, your company. I thank you all for reposing your trust and confidence in the Board and Management team of your company throughout these years. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I take this privilege to present the Annual Report of the Company for the financial year ended on 31^st December, 2022.

The major challenges that manifested Insurance Sector due to poor investment in new Industries and barrier in Garment sector by the buyers imposing new conditions for compliance, which disrupted the economic activities and negative affect on premium income and interest on FDR.

Despite the aforementioned challenges faced Karnaphuli Insurance nevertheless prevailed through concerted team efforts of all employees under the prudent leadership of our Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Mr. A. N. M. Fazlul Karim Munshi. The members of the Management team carried out their assigned responsibilities with most sincerity and dedication resulting to the company’s sustainable growth and goodwill in the market.

I once again thank all esteemed shareholders for their confidence on the members of the Board and Management team. It is my firm expectation that such confidence will remain unflinching in the coming years also. I also take this opportunity to thanking my colleagues in the Board of Directors and the Management for their wise leadership, relentless efforts and dedicated services for the welfare of the Company and Shareholders.

Mr. Nizam Uddin Ahmed holds the esteemed position of Chairman of the Board of Directors at Karnaphuli Insurance Company Limited. He is widely recognized as a prominent business figure in Bangladesh and hails from a prestigious Muslim family. In 1971, he completed his Master's Degree in Journalism and LLB from Dhaka University. Apart from his role at Karnaphuli Insurance, Mr. Ahmed also serves as Chairman of Meghna Life Insurance Co. Ltd., another leading life insurance company in the country. Furthermore, he holds directorship positions in Meghna Life Securities and Investment Limited and is the esteemed founder and Chairman of the Nizam Hasina Foundation. Mr. Nizam Uddin Ahmed has an illustrious background, having served as the Former Director of the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and Former Vice-President of the Bangladesh Insurance Association. He has also been a member of parliament in the past. In addition to his achievements in the business and political arenas, Mr. Ahmed is known for his visionary thinking, dedication, and skills in various socio-cultural activities. He has established numerous charitable organizations, including mosques, madrasahs, and colleges, both in his hometown Bhola and the capital. Mr. Ahmed is known for his simple lifestyle and profound intellect. He upholds ethical business practices and values honesty, sincerity, and high moral standards in all his endeavors. He has embarked on numerous business trips to countries such as the UK, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, Indonesia, Australia, and India.
